You look very old. How old are you?

A brief 5-day respite has come back due to the insurgence of Harry Potter, and now Mr Fong has to quickly wipe memories of the kids he gave birth to The-Book-That-Must-Not-Be-Named, and continue to inspire Mathematical scoring in the PSLE, and in Mr Fong's naggy words, to score The Goal Called A*!

Now, dear readers, concentrate: Have you ever been told off by your mum for asking people how old they were? Did your mum say it was rude? Hark not, you can enjoy now, Maths questions, as you might already be aware of, loves to ask you to divulge other people's ages! What school teaches you is never wrong one ok, so talking about people's age is OK!!! Mr Fong feels that this is due to the fact that asking about people's age can be insulting, if they are as young as this:
Age is actually under the topic of Whole Numbers, so let's start with something easy........

1. May was m years old 4 years ago. She is 2 years older than her sister, June. Find their total age in 2 years' time.

A very easy question, asking about people's age is no problem ok! Do NOT answer like this: " My mummy say cannot ask people for their age. I cannot tell you, you must ask my mummy first." Mr Fong is on the lookout for such answers!

Now that we have finished one simple question on age, Mr Fong realizes it has been age-s since he has promised to publish a Speed question, so here comes Superman Mr Fong to the rescue!

2. Mr Wong drove from Town A to Town B in 3 hours. If he increases his speed by 10 km/h, he will reach Town B 30 minutes earlier. What was his original speed?

Apart from the fact that many students have a good laugh about how his surname rhymes with Mr Fong's, this question is a question on comparison, and instead of comparing ages, now we compare speed! :D

This should have been all, but let's see....Mr Fong finds that students or subscribers to Eatyourmaths has complained that they are not getting enough nutrition while Mr Fong enjoys the comfort of that book, and that they are HUNGRY! Hence, let Mr Fong throw in a question that provides the ravenous readers with some maths-to-eat, and this would give you Vitamin A, B, K1, blah blah blah...In short, vitamins that help you score The Goal Called A*!

Compare age----> Compare speed----> Compare Money! (oops teaching wrong values)

Have you watched Money No Enough? No worries, you just need to do more Maths questions on Money (and Ratio), and you will be sick of money! :P

3. Sue and Zai had some money in the ratio of 7:4. Zai and mel had some money in the ratio 2:1. When Sue spent some of her money, and Zai gave mel 15 dollars, the three girls had the same amount of money each. How much money did Sue spend?

To tell you the truth, these questions are not very difficult, compared with this, this and this. But what Mr Fong sees is that such questions mix different topics together, and you cannot go into the exam hall as good as a Jedi StarFighter in Ratio, but as bad as one that hasn't got salvation from Eatyourmaths (!!!) in Percentage!
